Don't use the 2013 or 2017 versions of my project files. You need 2015 or later.
Use the short form instead of the long form.
Instead of manually changing the installation directory of the compressed folder that the project generates, you can instead include the file as part of the project.
Add a regular Win32 project instead of a Universal project.
Notes:
I used to use a Universal project to install the setup files, but that worked poorly and also the installer won't work at all on the 64-bit platforms.
The my project files include the 2013 versions of the.isl and the.wixproj files. You need to use the 2015 or later versions of these files.
I started out with a regular Win32 project, so I wasn't able to get the files installed into the right directories automatically as the project files expect.
The files that are installed by the regular Win32 project are installed into a subfolder of the directory that is output by the project. I did this by modifying the Output Directory property in the project file.
I had to modify the manifest of the installed files to set the file as "run" instead of "install". The regular Win32 projects don't support this.
I ended up using "Add Existing Project" to add the regular Win32 project.

Go to Project → Properties → Custom, and edit the Installation Directory to $(CommonDir).
